Next breed of Hero bikes and scooters are expected to come with new navigation system; likely to be available in the premium products only

While infotainment system with map and navigation has been a very popular feature in the cars, the bikes and scooters generally come minus that feature. India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is currently working a navigation system for its future products.

The navigation system, hero is developing is not the like the systems available in the cars, but a very basic version. But with a navigation set up, the next breed of Hero bikes and scooters are expected to become more appealing. The company is known for its range of commuter models. But, currently it is shifting its focus towards premium products as well. In that case, the new premium products could come equipped with the navigation system.

One of the most anticipated and awaited product from the two-wheeler manufacturer is the Hero Xtreme 200S, which was displayed in its concept form at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo. This bike could come featuring the new navigation system and it will certainly make the model distinctive than the rest of the bikes from the brand’s portfolio.

The navigation system will feature elementary arrows to show turns and straight lines to the rider. There will be a voice command system and a speaker as well. It will work in a much similar fashion like a smartphone’s GPS system and the map will use a Bluetooth also. The navigation system will work in sync with Android and iOS devices. Currently, the navigation system is not ready to be implemented in the products. We might see a prototype at the upcoming 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo giving us a preview of the system.

Speaking about the upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S bike, it is going to a sporty model aiming at the young buyers in the country. It is going to be powered by a 200 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine paired with a 5-speed transmission. The engine will churn out 18.6 PS of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 17.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. It will be available in both non-ABS and ABS variants and priced between Rs. 90,000 and Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
