Reliance Jio eyes to enter the DTH service market after the 4G and broadband service; image of Jio set top box surfaced online
After creating revolution in the 4G telecom service, Reliance Jio is preparing to introduce its own broadband and DTH service as well. A couple of leaked images have been surfaced showing set top boxes with Reliance Jio branding. The set top boxes come with a not for sale sign, which indicates that the company is testing the product ahead of its launch.
Compared to the standard set top boxes available in the market, the reliance Jio set top box looks pretty much different and equipped with far advanced facilities. The leaked images of the Reliance Jio set top box appears with an USB port at the front, which signifies that users can simply plug in their USB devices to the box.
The rear of the box gets a cable connector port, a USB port an HDMI port and an audio video port. There is an Ethernet port as well, which means the user can connect his broadband cable to the set top box to access the internet powered DTH services.
Currently, Reliance Jio is testing its broadband services FTTH (Fibre-To-The-Home) and initially, this will be introduced to the cities like Mumbai, Pune and Chennai. Later the service would be rolled out in other cities across India. It has already purchased the YOU Broadband, which is a wired internet provider and the company is also in talks with Netflix, Amazon Prime to provide exclusive content for the Jio DTH service.
It is still not clear when Reliance Jio will launch the services like broadband and DTH, but the company has already listed its home broadband and Jio Link service on its website, which means the services could be rolled out soon. The broadband service Reliance Jio is going to offer, would be capable of delivering a broadband speed up to 1GBPS, which will be much faster than the current standard Indian broadband speed.
