As we have been waiting for couple of high performance premium bikes, one of them is the BMW G310R. And this naked streetfighter will arrive along with its adventure focused sibling G310GS. The BMW G310GS shares the same chassis, same engine and several other components with its streetfighter sibling. Upon arrival, this is going to be the BMW Motorrad’s entry level offering in the adventure tourer category of Indian two-wheeler market. This bike will be manufactured locally in India at TVS Motors’ Hosur facility in Karnataka.
Thanks to the local production this adventure bike is expected to be priced aggressively similar as the BMW G310R. Uncovered at the 2017 EICMA in Milan, this model grabbed everyone’s attention and impressed us. Speaking about its design, the bike takes inspiration from bigger siblings with GS badge like F700 GS and R1200 GS. BMW aims to lure the young generation buyers and the G310GS could play pivotal role in that strategy.
This aggressive looking adventure bike gets beak like front cowl, powerful and sharp headlamp, a tall visor offering comfortable riding experience, fully digital instrument cluster enhancing premiumness and a muscular fuel tank with long range. Low positioned rider seat and stepped up pillion seat ensures comfort. At the back, the bike gets split grab rails and LED taillights increasing its style further.
On the powertrain front, BMW G310GS gets the same engine that works in the G310R. This 313 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is capable of churning out 34 PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. Transmission in this bike is done by a 6-speed gearbox. Braking power is delivered by a 300 mm front disc brake and a 240 mm rear disc brake that are combined with dual-channel ABS.
BMW G310GS runs on 19-inch front alloy wheels, while rear gets a 17-inch alloy wheel. Suspension duty is done by upside down front fork with 140 mm travel and rear monoshock absorber with 190 mm travel. Upon arrival, this bike is expected to be priced competitively between Rs. 2.75 lakh and Rs. 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It would be launched sometime in 2018 and before that it is expected to appear at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo.
