2017 New Suzuki Swift to be stronger and lighter; will host range of technology

Suzuki has just unveiled the all-new fourth-generation Swift in Japan. The latest version of the hatchback will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017. It has received a significantly updated design. Alongside that, the hatchback also incorporates a range of technologies and features, enhancing its appeal further.

The new-generation Suzuki Swift is available in six different trim options, which are – RSt, Hybrid RS, RS, Hybrid ML, XL and XG. The RSt trim is the sportiest version of the Swift hatchback. In terms of design, the new Swift comes sportier and stylish compared to the current generation model. It gets a completely revised front fascia with new grille, sharper headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights.


At the side profile too several design changed are visible. It gets new alloy wheels, a floating roof appearance and the rear passenger door handles have been moved to the C pillar, instead of the conventional door handles. At rear fascia it comes with compact taillights and roof spoiler. So far, 2017 Suzuki Swift looks very much appealing compared to its predecessor.


Inside the cabin, the new Suzuki Swift comes meeting global standard and incorporates range of attractive features. Centre of attraction is certainly the touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility. Also it gets Bluetooth, Aux and USB connectivity alongside voice recognition facility as well.


The car has been unveiled with two different engines – a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit and a 1.2-litre twin-injector Dualjet four-cylinder motor. The smaller one kicks out 102 PS of peak power and 150 Nm of peak torque, while the latter one pumps out 91 PS of peak power and 118 Nm of peak torque. The car would get a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine as well, considering different markets.


Alongside the conventional internal combustion engines, new Swift also comes with hybrid powertrain incorporating an Integrated Starter generator or ISG. Transmission duty will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while a CVT will be on offer as well and the car will be offered in both 2WD and 4WD options. It will reach Indian market in October 2017.
